Connected for life
This is the message of the World Transplant Games.
The World Transplant Games highlight the possibilities of life after transplantation by bringing transplant recipients from across the globe together for a unique international sports and community event. Over the years, the Games have been hosted across North and South America, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
They have grown into the world’s largest awareness event for organ donation, offering hope and motivation not only to transplant recipients, but also to their families, supporters, donor families, and living donors.
The 26th edition of the World Transplant Games will take place in Leuven, Belgium, from 1–8 August 2027. Over seven days of competition, around 2,000 athletes from more than 50 countries will participate in a wide range of sports, from high intensity disciplines to low impact activities. Participation is open to both competitive and recreational athletes.
Beyond sport, the Games foster connection and understanding through a vibrant programme of cultural, social, and community events, creating meaningful moments for dialogue and shared experiences.
The Games are open to all: transplant recipients, donor families, and living donors.
