Who is hosting the Games?
The World transplant games 2027 are hosted by World transplant Games Leuven 2027 VZW.
Who is eligible to participate?
Everyone from 4years to 80+years who received a life-supporting allografts from other individuals, and hematopoietic cell (bone marrow) transplants.
Participants are required to be a minimum of twelve months post-transplant.
The Games are also open for donors and family members of deceased donors. They are competing in their own category in a selected range of sport disciplines.
What is the purpose of the Games?
The Games have two core goals: to inspire people around the world to support organ donation, and to empower transplant recipients to strengthen their health and fitness after transplantation.
Who is supporting the Games?
The Games are only possible by the support of government and our partners.
What sports will be on offer?
Badminton, 3×3 Basketball, Bowling, Cycling, Darts, Golf, Petanque, Road Race, Sprint marathon, Squash, swimming, table tennis, tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball, 6-a-side Football
Do I give consent for media use?
Yes, consent for the use of photos and videos in which you may appear is requested at the end of the registration form.
Can I book an accommodation myself?
It is possible to book your own accommodation. However, we strongly encourage participants to stay in the official accommodations to fully experience the Games.
Who needs to register?
All athletes, supporters*, as well as team managers and staff members (such as medical staff, trainers, coaches, and press/media) must register through the official registration form.
During your registration, you will be asked to specify your role.
* Supporters are those who attend the Games alongside an athlete and share the same facilities and arrangements
How many sports can I participate in?
All athletes are allowed to sign up for 5 regular sports, with a maximum of one sport a day. Within each sport, athletes are allowed to enter multiple event
Where is the main sport venue
Campus Arenberg is the main hub for the World Transplant Games 2027. Besides hosting several sports competitions, it is also a central place for participants to meet and connect.
What sports are available for donors and donor families?
There is a selective range of sports with a special donor and donor family category.
They can participate in:
- 5k run
- Darts
- Golf
- Petanque
- Sprint Triathlon
- Swimming (50m freestyle)
- Track & Field (100m sprint, ball throw, long jump, racewalk)
- Extra donor competition: Padel
