Who can participate?

Everyone from 4 years to 80+years who received a life-supporting allografts (heart, intestine, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas) from other individuals, and hematopoietic cell (bone marrow) transplants.

Participants are required to be a minimum of twelve months post-transplant, maintain stable transplant function, be in good medical condition, and be properly prepared for the sporting events they wish to compete in.

Candidates who are at least six months post-transplant, have stable transplant function, are actively training, and have authorization from their personal physician may be evaluated by the WTGF Medical Committee and, upon approval, permitted to take part.

Athletes will compete by gender in the following age groups: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79+. In doubles events, the age groups are: under 30, 30-49, 50+.

This is a different competition for children and young people up to 17 years who meet the same transplant criteria as adult participants. Those competitors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Juniors will compete by gender in the following age groups:

5years and under, 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-17.

  • Table Tennis: from 6 years
  • Cycling: from 9 years
  • Darts: from 9 years
  • Squash: from 9 years
  • Tennis: from 9 years
  • Basketball: from 15 years
  • 6-a-side Football: from 15 years
  • 5K Run: from 15 years

The Games are also open for donors and family members of deceased donors. They compete in their own category in a selection of sports disciplines in three age groups.
